Interactive installations at the Humanist Library

New interactive installations that encourage learning through play at the new Humanist Library in Sélestat — a museum of medieval manuscripts and 15th- and 16th-century printed books, following the traces of the celebrated humanist Beatus Rhenanus. I built and installed four pieces. An interactive sound installation around Münster’s engravings: placing an engraving on the stand triggers a voice-over that unfolds the history of the engravings.

The printer’s workshop, where visitors discover Gutenberg’s printing process by opening the type case, handling the letters and then printing the result. The copyist’s workshop, a participatory work in which anyone can write out, in calligraphy, the Book of the Miracles of Sainte Foy — a text of several thousand words. And a welcome screen scrolling through the pages of that collective book.
