MUSEOMIX in Arles — the Antik[en]Kit project. By placing models of the main ancient monuments of Arles onto a map, visitors discover the history of the city of Arelate through several media — sound, animation, image and video — in both Roman and contemporary times. The models at the Musée de l’Arles Antique are beautiful. The problem: they are protected by very tall, very solid glass, and cannot be touched or handled.

Our prototype set out to let visitors play with the four models representing the most famous monuments of the Roman city. Visitors can handle these models and try to position them on a half-virtual, half-real replica of the museum’s largest and finest model, the one of the whole city. Each successful attempt is rewarded with an original piece of media.

Team: Cyril Viala — the pitcher (mediation); he has greasy fingers, and he presses them against the model cases. Myriam Martinet — communication. Damien Jorrand — the maker. Nicolas Camau — role: “pirate”; to be accepted, he brings homemade cookies. Emmanuel Rouillier and Eva Rodriguez Hernandez — facilitators. Sophie Mouton — content. Michaël Chambon, known as Fourn — graphic designer.

Colin Bouvry — creative coder.
