This immersive installation was devised during the third edition of Muséomix. It lets anyone decorate the room devoted to Louis Majorelle with other pieces from the collections — wallpapers, textiles and objects first among them. Using a 32-inch touchscreen, visitors recompose the décor and project their own vision onto the walls of the room, playing with chronology and testing their taste against the collections.
Visitor scenario. A visitor enters the Louis Majorelle Art Nouveau room and, drawn in by the imposing piano and staircase, comes closer to the furniture. On a touch table showing an image of the room, they are invited to « pimp » it with pictures that appear along the bottom of the screen. They can choose between wall coverings and works to hang, then drag and resize them freely, and press « Clear » to restore the room to its original state.
Every action on the touch table is immediately projected onto the walls through 3D mapping, so the visitor sees the result live. Aims. First, to unsettle the notion of the period room through interactivity, while letting the public discover the wallpaper collection held by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The installation also fulfils a wish many visitors share: to personalise — to « pimp » — and so to take ownership of the museum’s rooms and of its works.
