H Y P E R W A R [01] — “The surrounding mega-structures… the discovery of reinforced concrete and other durable materials, utilitarian architecture, the public realm, the politics of protecting social goods, communal breastfeeding… confinement… EVERYTHING! It was all a foregone conclusion! The solution issued by the authorities was radical… the sovereign state gave the order to establish what best suited everyone: the CURFEW.” An exponential, vertiginous fresco, HYPERWAR is a narrative landscape in which François De Jonge has been moving since 2013.
He tells there of the survival of a teeming humanity among cities in ruins, detailing every structure, every system, every crack. Alongside the exhibition of the original fresco, the LAZER QUEST gallery presents an interactive, animated and sonic installation set into the décor the artist made during his residency — an immersion in the space of HYPERWAR.
H Y P E R W A R [01] is an interactive installation made with Black Loop, Lazer Quest and the Brussels animation unit, as part of the artist’s residency at Lazer Quest and La Gare Expérimentale, shown together with original works, prints and the issues of Super-Structure. François De Jonge is an obsessive draughtsman of post-apocalyptic architecture and the creator of the magazine Super-Structures, a multi-format editorial exploration bringing together a number of talented illustrators and authors.
