Exhibition “From Chagall to Malevich: the Revolution of the Avant-Gardes” (12 July to 6 September 2015). © Grimaldi Forum, Monaco. The Grimaldi Forum’s major summer exhibition of 2015, produced as part of the Year of Russia in the Principality of Monaco, was one of the landmark events of that celebration. It brought together 150 major works by the great creators who make up the avant-garde movement in Russia.

Between 1905 and 1930 a succession of currents and schools came into being, carried by the energy and the richness of creation in the early twentieth century: after impressionism came the time of cubism, futurism, cubo-futurism, rayonism, suprematism, constructivism. Russian artists shaped an unprecedented modernity, breaking entirely with what had been known until then and overturning centuries of convention, even of academicism.

What made the Grimaldi Forum exhibition exceptional was the loan of works from Russia that had until then stayed fixed in the collections of the national galleries; these remarkable loans joined others from major European museums. With Emmanuel Rouillier. Claire Mouret — furniture. Arnaud Waels — table development. Colin Bouvry — creative coder.

And the whole exhibition team.
