Real-time 3D capture and reconstruction software for interaction. ABOUT — Zilhouette is multi-camera 3D interaction software able to handle a theoretically unlimited number of 3D streams. It was designed as a generic, modular tool: combining depth-image or point-cloud streams, easing calibration and adjustment, and producing volumetric rendering optimised for real-time interaction.
Zilhouette is released under the GPL free-software licence and tested on Ubuntu 18. FEATURES — A theoretically unlimited number of 3D streams, bounded only by the power of the machine. Support for ROS-compatible (Robot Operating System) 3D streams. Rendering sent to a video output. CPU and GPU filtering: architectural (adding 3D models), temporal (motion blur, median…), spatial (blur, median, erosion, dilation…), threshold (limit angles, limit distance…), disparity, decimation.
OpenGL rendering with an orthographic or perspective camera. Real-time adjustment through ImGui: calibration, filtering, render settings, adding a stream, adding a model, multiple interactive views, grid. ROS-compatible cameras: Realsense D400, SwissRanger SR4000… ORIGINAL DEVELOPMENT CONTEXT — Zilhouette was first written for the 2020 version of Samuel Bianchini’s installation “niform”, shown at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris during the Hors Pistes festival “Le peuple des images”, curated by Géraldine Gomez.
